Treks and trails in Nepal
Nepal's trails were roads long before they were treks: salt, rice and wool moved on them for centuries. We plan teahouse treks from three-day ridge walks to three-week circuits, with licensed guides, honest grading and rest days placed where the altitude asks for them.
Most of Nepal's hill and mountain villages are still linked by footpaths, and the teahouses that line them grew out of homes that fed traders. A trek here is less a wilderness trip than a walk through lived-in country, where you sleep in family lodges and eat what the kitchen cooks that day.
We grade every route by hours walked, height gained and the highest night's sleep, not by adjectives. Since April 2023, foreign trekkers in most national parks and conservation areas must walk with a licensed guide: check current status before you travel.
