High altitude in Nepal
Everest, Annapurna Base Camp, Upper Mustang, Gokyo, Manaslu and Kanchenjunga. Routes built on the 'climb high, sleep low' rule, with rest days at Namche, Manang and Dingboche-type stops, because acclimatisation decides how the trip feels.
Above about 3,000 m the body needs time. The usual guide is to raise your sleeping height by no more than 300–500 m a day once you are above 3,000 m, and to take a rest day for every 1,000 m or so gained.
Our itineraries follow that rule and show the sleeping height of every night. If you have heart or lung conditions, speak to your doctor before booking, and hold insurance that covers helicopter evacuation to the highest point on your route.
