Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel

A wellness-focused resort from the family behind Dwarika's Hotel, set on terraced hillside outside Dhulikhel with views of the Himalaya. Brick and stone buildings, gardens, yoga and meditation programmes, and a slow pace about 1.5 hours from Kathmandu.

Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel was created by the same family as Dwarika's Hotel in Kathmandu, with a different aim: wellness and quiet. The resort spreads over a terraced hillside above the Araniko Highway, with buildings in brick, stone and wood inspired by Newar and Himalayan design, and gardens that step down the slope. Many rooms and terraces look north to the mountains.

The focus is on slowing down: yoga and meditation sessions, spa treatments, walks, and meals built around fresh, seasonal food. It suits travellers recovering from a trek, or wanting a few calm days before the city. From here, the old town of Dhulikhel, the hike to Namobuddha and the homestays of Panauti are all within easy reach by car or on foot.

Why we use it

  • Hillside setting with Himalayan views from rooms and terraces
  • Wellness programmes: yoga, meditation and spa
  • Easy base for Namobuddha, Panauti and Dhulikhel's old town

Questions

How far is Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel from Kathmandu?

About 30 km east, roughly 1.5 hours by car along the Araniko Highway via Bhaktapur and Banepa, depending on traffic and road works. The resort can arrange transfers. It is about 10 minutes from Dhulikhel's old town and 30 minutes from Panauti.

Is Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel good after a trek?

Yes. Its wellness focus, with yoga, meditation, spa treatments and quiet gardens, makes it a good place to recover after a trek, and its mountain views are a reminder of where you have been. Two or three nights works well.

Can I see the Himalaya from Dwarika's Resort Dhulikhel?

On clear days, yes. The resort faces north across the hills to the Himalaya, with the Langtang range and peaks towards Gaurishankar visible from many terraces and rooms. October to February mornings give the best views; haze and cloud often hide the peaks from March to September.
