Triveni Dham lies where three streams, named locally as the Kshir, Benurudra and Mandakini, come together. It sits near the point where Kalikot, Achham and Bajura districts meet, and it is the last camp before the temple. Pilgrims believe that bathing here purifies them before they meet the goddess.

The site is wide and open, with grassy flats for camping, the sound of water and small shrines by the streams. In the evening pilgrims light fires, cook and sing; in the early morning they bathe in the icy water and set off up the ridge in the dark.

Camp with your crew on a flat, well-drained spot away from the streams, which can rise quickly in rain. Do not use soap or detergent in the water. A night here also helps acclimatisation before the climb to 4,220 m.

Questions

Where is Triveni Dham at Badimalika?

Triveni Dham is the confluence of three streams near the meeting point of Kalikot, Achham and Bajura districts, below Badimalika temple. It is the usual last camp before the final climb to the temple.

Is it safe to bathe at Triveni?

The water is very cold and can run fast, especially in the monsoon. If you join pilgrims in a ritual dip, choose a calm, shallow spot, stay close to the edge and keep it brief. Never bathe after heavy rain when streams are high.

Is there accommodation at Triveni Dham?

There are no permanent lodges. Visitors camp, and during the Janai Purnima fair temporary shelters and tea shops are set up. Bring all camping equipment and food with your trek crew.
