Walk from Changunarayan down to Bhaktapur
After the temple, walk down through Changu village, terraced fields and small settlements, cross the Manohara river and enter Bhaktapur's old town from the north. About 7 km, mostly downhill, ending with juju dhau in Taumadhi.

From the temple gate, we walk down Changu's cobbled street and leave the village on a path that drops through terraced fields. In autumn the rice is golden and being cut; in spring, wheat and mustard fill the terraces. Farmers often stop to chat, and children call out from doorways.
The path descends steadily for about an hour to the Manohara river, which we cross by a bridge. On the far side, we walk through fields and the edges of new suburbs towards Bhaktapur, with views back up to the Changunarayan ridge. The path is steep and uneven in places, so take it slowly.
We enter Bhaktapur's old town from the north, through quiet residential lanes, and finish at Taumadhi or the Durbar Square, where you can buy your Bhaktapur ticket and sit down for a well-earned bowl of juju dhau. Your driver meets you here if you are not staying the night.
