Chitwan & the Terai in May
The hottest month. Temperatures pass 35 °C most days and humidity rises ahead of the monsoon. The park is open and rhinos wallow in plain sight, but sitting in a jeep at noon is hard work. We only suggest May for travellers who handle heat well and want lower rates. Devghat and Janakpur are best kept to early mornings. Bring light, long-sleeved clothing for sun and insects, and plan a rest at midday in your lodge.
