Meghauli Serai, A Taj Safari
A high-end safari lodge run by Taj on the Rapti riverbank at Meghauli, facing Chitwan National Park. Rooms and villas look across the river to the grassland, and the lodge's own naturalists lead jeep drives, walks and canoe trips on the quieter western side of the park.
Meghauli Serai sits on the northern bank of the East Rapti in Meghauli, on the western side of the Chitwan valley. From the lodge you look straight across the river into the park, and in the dry season rhinos and deer are often seen on the far bank from the garden. The setting is quiet, away from the lodges and traffic of Sauraha.
As a Taj Safari property it runs its own wildlife programme, with naturalists who guide jeep drives, walks and river trips and explain the ecology of the floodplain. Meals are taken in the lodge, and the pace of the day follows the animals: early starts, a long midday rest and drives again in the afternoon. It suits travellers who want comfort, privacy and well-organised safaris.

Meghauli Serai is in Meghauli, on the western side of the Chitwan valley, on the northern bank of the East Rapti river facing Chitwan National Park. It is about 35 km from Bharatpur airport, roughly 1 hour by road, and about 1.5 hours from Sauraha. The lodge usually arranges transfers.
Are safaris included at Meghauli Serai?
The lodge runs its own wildlife activities with in-house naturalists, including jeep drives, walks and river trips. Packages and what they include change by season, and national park fees may be charged separately. Confirm inclusions when you book, and check current status before you travel.
