Buddha Maya Gardens

A garden hotel on the edge of the Lumbini master plan area, a short walk from the Sacred Garden and the Maya Devi temple, run by the Kathmandu Guest House group since it opened in 1998. A comfortable, calm base for dawn visits to the temple.

Buddha Maya Gardens opened in September 1998 and has grown from a small hotel into one of Lumbini's best-known places to stay. It is managed by the Kathmandu Guest House group, one of the oldest names in Nepali hospitality. Rooms face landscaped lawns and trees, and the main temples are roughly five minutes away on foot, which matters when you want to be at the gate for the 6 am opening.

The restaurant serves Nepali, Indian, Chinese and continental dishes, and the staff can arrange bicycles, cars and guides for the monastic zone and the Kapilvastu sites. It is a sensible choice for families, older travellers and anyone who values quiet and an easy walk to the Sacred Garden over being in the bazaar.

The hotel is on the edge of the Lumbini master plan area, roughly a five-minute walk from the Sacred Garden and the main temples. That makes it easy to reach the Maya Devi temple at opening time, around 6 am, and to return for a rest in the midday heat before visiting the monastic zone later.

Who runs Buddha Maya Gardens?
