Walk down from Briddim to Syabrubesi
The closing walk of the Tamang Heritage Trail, descending through forest and farmland from Briddim to Syabrubesi, with views over the Bhote Koshi valley and the Langtang Khola confluence. Allow a relaxed morning for it.

Leaving Briddim after breakfast, the trail drops through terraced fields and then through oak and rhododendron forest, with occasional views down to the Bhote Koshi and across to the hills of the Langtang Valley. It is a steady descent of about 750 m that takes around 3 hours. The path is clear but steep in places, and the forest sections can be slippery after rain. Use poles, take your time and let faster walkers pass. Your guide will stop at a viewpoint where the whole valley opens up below.
Along the way you pass small chortens and prayer flags, and maybe herders bringing animals up or down. Your guide points out the line of the old trade road along the valley floor and the places where the 2025 and 2026 floods changed the river. It is a good moment to ask about the trade road and the border, since many families in Briddim worked there. Ask gently, as many people lost friends and relatives in the 2026 flood, and let your guide judge what is appropriate to discuss.
Below, Syabrubesi itself is rebuilding after the August 2026 flood. Depending on conditions, we may arrange onward transport from a different point; check current status before you travel. The walk is a fitting close to a trek through Tamang country. If you are continuing to the Langtang Valley, the trail up the Langtang Khola begins from the Syabrubesi side. If you are heading home, your guide will confirm the current road route to Kathmandu before you leave Briddim, since conditions change week to week.

About 3 hours downhill, descending around 750 m through farmland and forest. Going up takes 3 to 4 hours. Use walking poles to save your knees, and take care on loose or wet sections. Start in the morning to reach the valley before the afternoon heat.
Is the Briddim trail safe after the 2026 flood?
Briddim and the upper trail lie well above the Bhote Koshi, but the valley floor and Syabrubesi were badly damaged on 26 August 2026, and riverbanks may be unstable. Your guide will choose the route based on current local advice. Check current status before you travel.
Can I do Briddim as a side trip from Syabrubesi?
Yes. When access is open, walk up to Briddim in 3 to 4 hours, spend a night in a homestay and come down next morning. It makes a good extra day before or after the Langtang Valley trek, and helps acclimatisation by climbing to 2,230 m before going higher.
